Bindery Operator
Location: 929 West 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202

Job Type: Full Time

Shift(s): Printing Partners operates in three shifts: (1st ) 6am–2pm, (2nd ) 2pm–10pm, (3rd ) 10pm–6am

Job description: The Bindery Operator will have the responsibility for operation of equipment in our mechanical bindery department. We are seeking skilled bindery workers with experience in any or all the following: cutting, folding, stitching and perfect binding. Cutters: Perfecta & Polar. Folders: B-18 Stahl Folder, B-19 Stahl Folder, T-66 Stahl Folder, T-56 Stahl Folder. Stitchers/Binders: Duplo Collator, Duplo Stitcher, Muller Stitcher, Horizon BQ-470 Perfect Binder.

Required Skills:

  • Self-Motivated
  • Ability to function in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Willing to work flexible hours and overtime as needed
  • Ability to lift and move at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Mechanical aptitude

Other Specifications:

Case Binding Operator
Location: 929 West 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202

Job Type: Full Time

Job description: The Case Bindery Operator will have the responsibility for operation of equipment in our Case Bindery department. We are seeking skilled bindery workers with experience in any or all the following: setting and running a multi-clamp high-speed binding line (Mueller Bolero), 3-knife trimming (Orbit trimmer), sewing, tipping, case making, High Speed Case-In line (Diamant MC 60) (headbanding, rounding, backing, etc.). Needs experience with PUR, cold glue and gauzing, EVA, pressure sensitive adhesives, and appropriate spine preparation for each binding and gluing type.

Plate Maker

Prepress/Electronic Stripping

Job Type: Full Time

Job description: The Prepress Technician will be responsible for ensuring the correct layout and format of jobs, according to the job ticket. The Prepress Technician will use Heidelberg Prinect Software and Adobe Acrobat Pro with PitStop Plug In.

Project Planner
Location: 929 West 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202

Job Type: Full Time

Shift(s): First Shift: 8am – 5pm

Job description: The career path for this position could be to take on additional responsibilities in project management, or to work more closely with clients as an outside sales consultant. Both are attractive options, but we find that people naturally gravitate to one or the other. However, in our organization, planners also operate in a selling mode as they add value for clients. The positions we are considering would work on existing sales teams that include an outside sales consultant and a planner. Immediate supervisor: Sales team leader.

Required Skills:

  • A thorough knowledge of both offset and digital printing as well as graphic design.
  • Must have experience in customer service and project management and possess good technology skills.
  • Function as an effective problem-solver who can identify problems quickly and communicate solutions clearly.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects with the goal to add value
  • Communicate promptly and honestly with clients
  • Respond to phone calls within 24 hours or less
  • Respond to emails within 4 hours or less
  • Inspect and approve jobs as they flow through production
  • Update online job status regularly
  • Review job reports and submit for billing

  • Correct errors in labor and material
  • Submit job reports for invoicing within five days of shipping

Offset Commercial Press Operator and Working Shift Manager
Location: 929 West 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202

Shift(s): Printing Partners operates in three shifts: (1st ) 6am–2pm, (2nd ) 2pm–10pm, (3rd ) 10pm–6am

Job description: The Press Operator will have the responsibility to operate and maintain the Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 and 106 sheet-fed presses as well as perform daily duties pertaining to this job.

Required Skills:
Minimum Education Level and/or Certifications and/or Training:

  • Education required: High School Diploma or foreign equivalent.
  • Certification Required: Certificate in Printing Technology/Lithography or Printing Apprenticeship Certificate, or foreign equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
Requires at least 2 years of experience, either in the above job offered or in a closely related job, which must have included:
  • 2 years working in Commercial Bindery and Lithopress team environment.
  • 2 years offset presswork experience which must include setting up and running Heidelberg Speed Master XL 105 and106 sheet fed presses, making and reading spectral photometer measurements for color accuracy to G7 standard, and performing routine maintenance and minor repairs to the XL 105 or 106 presses.
  • 2 years operator experience in bindery and finishing operations.
  • 2 years Supervisory Management Experience in press operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Read and follow press schedule. Read online job ticket to verify specific job instructions, job materials, job approval, and signed contract proof.
  2. Understand grammage, caliper, brightness & opacity, and finish of stock to correctly identify stock for jobs.
  3. Fully Operate XL 105 or 106 Offset Sheetfed Commercial Press and monitor according to internal procedures. Verify stock compatibility throughout the press run. Run all jobs within dE 3.5 of standard as measured by closed-loop system. Perform routine maintenance.
  4. Monitor inking primaries for back-trapping and contamination. Monitor 40 percent mid-tones for emulsification stability. Understand interaction of glycol ph and conductivity in relation to surface tension and “wetting” of the fountain solution and interaction to ink and product.
  5. Run Press Checks with Clients or Supervisor according to internal procedures.
  6. Use Printing Partners software to Log Job Status; Final count of job run, Labor and Materials used. Write job notes in Printing Partners software about any issues.
  7. Communicate with Press Feeder or perform Press Feeder responsibilities according to internal procedures.
  8. Manage Finishing Department for shift workflow, including machinery and employees according to internal procedures. Understand Heidelberg Windmill, Heidelberg S28, Perfecta paper cutter, B-19 Stahl Folder, T-56 and T-66 Stahl Folder, Heidelberg Stitchmaster ST300, Duplo and Perfect Binder to recommend alternate solutions when appropriate and document production issues in online job ticket. Trouble-shoot or perform equipment maintenance as needed to keep production flowing.
  9. Check maintenance logs weekly, schedule maintenance as needed, communicate equipment problems to immediate supervisor or maintenance department.
  10. Participate in team leader meetings, quality management review, conduct employee performance reviews, identify employees who can be trained for new tasks, train new employees.
  11. Recycle used Materials and Chemicals According to Internal and Regulatory Guidelines.

Offset Commercial Press Feeder

Job Type: Full Time

Job description: The Press Feeder will have the responsibility of assisting the Press Operator with operating and maintaining the sheet fed press.

Required Skills:

  • Experience preferred but will train right person
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to stand/move about for entire shift
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds

Job Responsibilities:

  • Move/load paper in/out of press
  • Pull and load appropriate stock as identified by the job ticket and compared to the stock tag.
  • Properly identify and appropriately package unused stock for return to inventory.
  • Return unused stock to staging area for Order/Receiving to place back in inventory.
  • Hang plates and blankets
  • Move product using hand pallet jack
  • Assist with make-ready and wash-ups
  • Clean and maintain area
  • Help press operators as needed
